Terms of Use
Last updated October 19, 2026
By downloading or using Plugd, you agree to these terms.
What Plugd is
Plugd is a free, open source Mac app that sets up Wine and FORScan and connects FORScan to your OBD adapter. Plugd itself only reads from your car. Any changes to your car's modules are made by you, using FORScan.
License
Plugd's code is under the MIT License. You can use, copy, change and share it under that license. See LICENSE.
FORScan, Wine and the other tools Plugd uses keep their own licenses. Plugd does not include FORScan. It downloads it from forscan.org, and you accept FORScan's license yourself during setup. See THIRD_PARTY.md.
Your car is your responsibility
Changing module settings can stop features from working, and in rare cases can leave a module unusable. Before you write anything with FORScan:
- Back up your As-Built data and module settings.
- Keep a battery charger on the car.
- Only change settings you understand.
You use Plugd and FORScan at your own risk.
No warranty
Plugd is provided "as is", without any warranty. It has been tested on one car with one adapter. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for any damage to your car, your Mac, your data or anything else that comes from using Plugd.
Not affiliated
Plugd is an independent project. It is not made, approved or supported by FORScan, Ford, Mazda or Apple. Their names are used only to describe what Plugd works with.
Changes
These terms can change. The current version is always on this page, and the full history is in the GitHub repository.
